The Women in Interventional Pulmonology (WiIP) is a dedicated organization that aims to provide a supportive and nurturing environment for mentorship to each of our members. Our mission is to advance the standard and elevate the field of Interventional Pulmonology by offering opportunities for growth and development within the industry.

As we continue to evolve, WiIP will seek to define opportunities for collaboration in education, research, career advancement, and leadership development while also promoting the well-being of our members both professionally and personally. Nina Maouelainin, DO, MBA, FCCP - President

As Women in Interventional pulmonology (WiIP), we aspire not only to lead  by example but also inspire through innovation, education and mentorship. WiIP is devoted to breaking the curve of lung cancer plaguing old and young, and delivering a stage shift.  

WiIP serves as a beacon of empowerment by fostering a global community of women who excel in their practice, contribute to cutting-edge research, and mentor the next generation in our specialty.

As a team, we strive to create an inclusive, supportive environment where every woman in interventional pulmonology has the resources, opportunities, and recognition she deserves. We have and will continue breaking down the barriers and promote collaboration, education, and advocacy. Our voices are heard. Together, we continue to shape the future of interventional pulmonology, inspire excellence, and advance the field of interventional pulmonology for the benefit of patients and the healthcare community worldwide.

Jasleen Pannu, MD - Vice President

As Vice President, my vision is to cultivate a dynamic and inclusive environment in interventional pulmonology where women are empowered to lead, innovate, and excel. We will champion professional development, mentor future leaders, foster groundbreaking research, and advocate for policies that support work-life balance and diversity. Through mentorship, recognition, and collaboration, we aim to ensure that women in interventional pulmonology are at the forefront of advancements in the field, driving excellence in patient care and transforming the future of pulmonary medicine.

Colleen Keyes, MD - Secretary / Treasurer

 

Dr. Colleen Keyes, MD is a pulmonologist in Boston, MA and has over 19 years of experience in the medical field. Dr. Keyes has extensive experience in Pulmonary Neoplasms and Obstructive Lung Disease. She graduated from Boston University in 2004. She is affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital.

International Executive Members

Semra Bilaceroglu, MD, FCCP - Turkey

Prof. Semra Bilaceroglu is the academic director of a pulmonary department in Izmir Faculty of Medicine, University of Health Sciences-Turkiye. She performed pleural research with the late Prof. Richard Light, and was entitled “Visiting Professor” by the Belgrade University Medical Faculty. She served as the secretary and president of the European Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (EABIP), as a member of the CHEST Executive Board and as the Chair of CHEST Council of Global Governors. She organized 2013 and 2017 EABIP Congresses, is a reviewer and associate editor of several international high-impact journals and has published extensively in pulmonary medicine and interventional pulmonology.

Filiz Oezkan, MD - Germany 

Filiz Oezkan is Associate Professor of Pulmonology and works as attending physician of interventional pulmonology at the University Medicine Essen-Ruhrlandklinik in Essen, Germany which belongs to the West German Cancer Center. About 1000 primary lung cancer diagnoses are established at Ruhrlandklinik yearly, so there is huge expertise at lung cancer diagnosis and treatment including bronchoscopic diagnostic and treatment strategies including linear and radial EBUS, rigid bronchoscopy for recanalization including stent placement, and others. Another focus are endoscopic lung volume reduction treatments including endobronchial valves, coils and vapor. As part of the center of rare lung diseases peripheral cryobiopsies are performed several times a week as well.

Preeti Vidyasagar, MD, DNB, DM - India

Dr. Belgundi Preeti Vidyasagar has received intensive training and has developed the necessary skills to perform both basic and advanced bronchoscopy, including flexible bronchoscopy, transbronchial lung biopsy, endobronchial biopsy, endobronchial ultrasound (linear & radial), semi-rigid and rigid pleuroscopy, foreign body extraction, and cryoextraction. Her additional skills and experience include managing COPD, asthma, bronchiolitis, bronchiectasis, tuberculosis, infectious disease, ILD (DPLD), ABPA, vasculitis, pulmonary vascular disorders, occupational lung diseases, pleural and mediastinal disorders, and lung and pleural malignancies.

Lamya Chrif, MD, MSc - Morocco

Dr. Lamya Chrif specializes in the management of chronic or acute respiratory diseases. Her practice offers specific expertise in respiratory pathology explorations and a complete technical platform. Services available include allergy testing, breath explorations such as spirometry, nocturnal oximetry, and walking tests, bronchial endoscopy, thoracic ultrasound, sleep respiratory disorders such as sleep apnea and snoring, non-invasive ventilation, oxygen therapy, smoking cessation support, and nebulization.

Jane Winantea, MD - Germany

Jane Winantea is a senior attending physician at Ruhrlandklinik, University Medicine Essen, in Essen, Germany, with over a decade of experience in interventional pulmonology. She completed her doctorate degree in 2017, having been mentored by the esteemed Lutz Freitag. Jane's clinical expertise primarily revolves around the diagnostic and staging of lung cancer, as well as the bronchoscopic treatment of central airway stenosis and bronchoscopic lung volume reduction. Throughout her career, she has concentrated her research efforts on bronchoscopic techniques, particularly in the area of bronchoscopic lung volume reduction. Recently, she has developed a keen interest in translational lung cancer research and is actively involved in several ongoing projects within this field.
